Jay-Z “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” Video
I know this doesn’t exactly classify as underground hip-hop, but shit is dope. From “The Blueprint 3,” dropping in September.

Still the most over hyped artist in hip-hop history, but that beat is super tight.

Love the beat, think the rhymes are O.K. Jay never seems to sound good to me over beats that hard. He plays it way to chill for me. Someone like DOOM or Ghost Face on that beat would tear that sh*t out the frame.
Plus I gotta say Jay is a bit of a hypocrite cuz he is just as responsible for the dumbing down of Hip Hop as a lot of other artist…

I like when the sax kicks in, nice track….
I’m not much of a fan of the lyrics though, I see no ‘murdering’ on the track at all…. ridiculous title that may only prove too little.
I don’t agree that Jay is responsible for dumbing hip hop down, we’ve always had club tracks and he’s generally a good performer on whatever he’s on, always coming correct.
Take a look at every album, there’s always tracks that blow you away lyrically.

Yes Jay is “lyrical” but dudes content much of the time is stereotypical and just as much hogwash as a lot of these other cats. He just has more natural talent and skill than someone like Ja-Rule or Flo Rida. He was part of the Club – Hop movement were he helped morph Hip Hop from a counter culture music, to a mass pleasing machine. He ran one of the largest record labels during that major transition in the mid-90’s, where the labels made a conscious effort to push a certain visual and image agenda (there a numerous writings about this) Helped cats like Irv Gotti, Ja Rule and a lot of other wack cats get in the mix. Can Jay Z rap? Yes. Is he part of the system that help sell Hip Hop out? Fo sho…

No I.D. is the star of the track here for sure. DOOM would definitely have been ferocious on this.

Exactly Core, how can a cat who’s done more than anyone to push the monotonous C-rap which has been dominating the charts for near a decade come out and now says he’s keepin’ it real.
He’s now coming out against the shit-hop game which he created. Come on!!! he’s only doing it as he thinks that he’s going to sell CD’s that way, do you really think he’ll be droppin’ this track if the shit he peddles was still actually selling.
