See, this is what I really hate about the music industry. This site posts something about a new, interesting band, and what happens -- the conversation devolves into who heard of them first, how they got to be famous, etc. etc. I know music is a business first and foremost in this day and age, but damn -- can we focus on the important stuff for a minute?

This is a band that, since its inception, has used their growing fame to lend support to a ton of different social support programs, including but not limited to the recent Rock the Vote campaign. Despite their well-published support for Barack Obama, they still went totally non-partisan for RTV and recorded this video (link below) to help convince the youth of America to vote regardless of their affiliation. How many other artists use their celebrity status to that effect?

I'm impressed. You should be too.

Sonuva! What happened to the video? I missed them on TV because I can't stand that Daly tool & didn't know they would be on. I was stoked when I saw this page, but YouTube sucks and removed the video! Does anybody have this clip or know where I can find it???

The Flobots are an incredible group that puts out smart, fresh ear-candy with a social conscience. They are a rare treasure in the stagnant cesspool of modern "music".

PS: Massive- promotions, seriously? I don't think your pompous, uninformed, and totally misdirected bitching is the kind of publicity they're looking for.

All i have to say is this site is super-dope, whether they reviewed the Flobots "on-time" or not. The fact is, the group was recognized.

jay. you are talking out of your ass.

universal didn't make flobots famous, the flobots did that for themselves. like i said, they were blowing up before universal signed them- we got them on the college charts in the fall. and i'm super happy for them all- i know them personally and that is why they hired MMA. they come to my house to pick up the CDs we manufactured for them... OK?

as for me making money off of the flobots- i think in the end, the flobots made a good call in hiring MMA. why don't you ask them how they feel about it? do you think the results of the promotion work we did for them in the fall might have had something to do with all this other stuff in any way? per chance? they didn't hire me on a whim. they hired me because they know me and can come to my house. you don't know what you are talking about. you aren't even a legitimate part of this conversation. like a virtual fly buzzing around my head while i try to speak to HHL.

i agreed to release the flobots from any contracts if they got signed to a larger label. i kept my word. i don't think that is selfish at all. universal couldn't have taken the rights from me if i didn't agree to do that, and that would have kept the flobots from getting the deal at all... see how the business works? no?

i can tell you that anyone else in my position wouldn't have released them to universal. i did that because we are friends and i told them that is what i would do. i actually lost money on that. see what i mean about talking out of your ass?

nathaniel-

i totally believe you. my initial comment may have seemed harsh and i apologize for that- if you never received the CD from us, cool. sorry. i really do believe you, because we just got another one sent back to us yesterday.. haha
glad you got APOSTLE tho.

i am merely looking out for the people i work with and standing up for them whenever i think something needs to be said. in this case, maybe i was too rash- i have apologized.

that doesn't mean i will stop making noise when i think something is bunk tho- it is my job to make noise, and if i worked for you, you'd be glad i was on your side.

PEACE

I still don't see where you're coming from MMA. You sound selfish to me. You're not happy the Flobots are blowing up - you're bitter because Universal made it happen and you didn't.

You're not happy that HHL gave the album 4 stars - you're upset because it took someone else giving it to them to make that happen and now you can't take credit for the review.

It's almost like you wish they weren't having any success so they would continue to pay you. You sound like someone who is only out for himself - someone who is greedy, jealous and spiteful.

Unlike you, HHL doesn't get paid for this. They do it out of love. Shit, according to their advertising page, they donate 100% of their earnings to charity. How much do you give to charity MMA? Would you still promote if you couldn't overcharge starving artists thousands of dollars for your packages?

Just calling it like I see it ...
