Track of the Week: Cymarshall Law “Out of the Rain”

Cymarshall Law

This week’s underground hip-hop track of the week is Cymarshall Law and Mr. Joeker’s Out of the Rain featuring Mary Lou on the chorus. This song is one of very many dope tracks from Cymarshal Law and Mr. Joeker’s “Hip-Hop in the Soul” – which I’ve been bumping nonstop lately. Out of the Rain is a inspirational feel-good track, composed of three verses about people who overcame hardshops to find happiness and success. Click below to listen:

[Intro]
It’s up to you if everyday is the same/
You gotta pick yourself up and come out of the rain/
You might feel a loss now but you’re strong from pain/
So don’t worry baby boy you’ll live to fight again/
It’s up to you if everyday is the same/
You gotta pick yourself up and come out of the rain/
You might feel a loss now but you’re strong from pain/
So don’t worry baby girl you’ll live to fight again/

[Verse 1]
If life’s a race, why it seem some start last?/
She never knew her pops, her moms died in a car crash/
No living family so she became an orphan/
Seven trying to find herself in a world she lost in/
She cried herself to sleep, buried the pain/
Deep within – thought that she was going insane/
Then after a year the day finally came/
She got adopted, she would have a home again/
But the grass wasn’t greener, her new moms was meaner/
She would treat her unfairly and beat her/
The man of the house saw her cry like boo-hoo/
Still he raped the little girl, and her mom knew too/
She could’ve broke, but she excelled in school/
Said it wasn’t a joke and made you could’ve too/
Now everywhere she goes she feels the people stare/
Because this poor little girl became a millionaire/

[Chorus]
When times get low/
I feel end oh/
Don’t stop just go/
‘Cause the sun’s gonna shine on me/

[Verse 2]
Basketball the name of his game since a little thang/
His mom used to joke, ‘You came out the womb dribblin’’/
Since a little man, Skill’s loving the show/
He even had big plans of becoming a pro/
He was better than good, an urban legend in the hood/
Everyone said if anyone would make it he would/
He was faster, stronger, and could jump higher/
‘Til one day on the court got caught in crossfire/
The bullet went straight through his right knee/
The doctor said walking again was not likely/
But he was smart and knew it was all in the brain/
Used his heart, and everyday hard he would train/
And even though they said he would never be the same/
Best believe a few years later he was playing/
He never gave up even when things low/
Now the boy plays overseas for big dough/

[Chorus]
When times get low/
I feel end oh/
Don’t stop just go/
‘Cause the sun’s gonna shine on me/

[Verse 3]
Now some would say that she’s a villain/
‘Cause she had to sell drugs to feed her children/
I’d never survive, I had to deal to live/
Struggling right, a single mom and had to deal with kids/
Broke until light one night she got stopped/
And when the cops searched the car she got knocked/
She just wanted a life worth livin’/
Now everything she’d written was no good in prison/
She fought everyday and they disgusting meals/
But used the time in the cell to develop her skills/
In writing – then the day came she got out the jail/
Said she would use her skills and put her mouth to sale/
But on the way home by accident left them on the bus/
Luckily they were found by a man she could trust/
Ironically a famous director who came with hope/
‘Cause he paid a pretty penny for everything that she wrote/

[Outro]
It’s up to you if everyday is the same/
You gotta pick yourself up and come out of the rain/
You might feel a loss now but you’re strong from pain/
So don’t worry baby boy you’ll live to fight again/
It’s up to you if everyday is the same/
You gotta pick yourself up and come out of the rain/
You might feel a loss now but you’re strong from pain/
So don’t worry baby girl you’ll live to fight again/
