Quotable of the Week: Kats & Domer’s “Weekend Lover”

This week’s quotable hip-hop track is Kats and Domer’s Weekend Lover, which features a guest verse from Jake Lefco and a tight beat by Andy Bangers. Weekend Lover is from the “Almost Fameless Mixtape Vol. 2,” which you can download for free here. What I really like about this song is the way the three emcees created three different interpretations of the song, which is apparent from their verses. Click below to listen to the track:
And be sure to follow along with the lyrics after the break.
[Verse 1 – Jake Lefco]
It’s been a long week full of long days/
I’m longing for you – you make my heart ache/
Body’s calling for you, put you on MySpace/
Think I’m falling for you, thought about you all day/
The kind of love we make sounds like god’s grace/
The kind of love we make makes the raw shake/
Like an earthquake, want you in the worst way/
Knew it on our first date, feel like it’s my birthday/
But this is real life/
I got a real job, I got a real wife/
And she thinks I’m cheatin’ ‘cause I’m gone every weekend/
And I’m always with you, and we’re out all evening/
Thank god it’s Friday, I miss you/
I fight temptation but I can’t resist you/
Text and email you when I can’t be near you/
On stage when I speak into the mic I hear you/
[Verse 2 – Domer]
I met this career girl and tried to befriend her/
‘Cause she was making mad dough and had no time to spend it/
And she thinks she needs someone to bring some fun in her life/
And I’m like, ‘New friend relax, this is what I do best,’ right?/
So okay yo I’ll play the role, it isn’t too bad/
I can take you out to dinner if you pick up the tab/
She liked my music but I griped my tools are old and useless/
So she’d throw me dough to go and cop the dopest new shit/
Well thanks baby, I really appreciate it/
I keep my shows on the weekends ‘cause weeknights she can’t make it/
And that’s fine with me, I don’t mind being in a nice piece on the Upper East/
Sippin’ a glass of iced tea and flippin’ around on her widescreen/
But after a while she’s all, ‘Why don’t you get motivated?/
I could get you a job,’ and I’m like, ‘Fuck that you know I’ll hate it’/
So she broke it off clean said the hope was lost for me/
But I stay optimistic for the next chick who’s wallet’s deep/
[Verse 3 – Kats]
We met at the store at a quarter to four in the morning/
The one at the corner of Lorimer, surely you know it/
The one with the awning, she wanted to give me her digits/
Ignoring the warning signs, I decided to get it/
Decided to hit it I guess on the spur of the moment/
We’re both real tipsy I see that she certainly want it/
I know this decision is wrong, I’ll be hurting tomorrow/
But kissing and telling is better than stories with morals/
She told me her name, I forgot it as soon as she said it/
She flagged down a cab, as soon as we get in go at it/
We get to her place, she’s acting a little bit frisky/
I’m breaking the ice, fill a couple of glasses with whiskey/
She sips it and goes to the bedroom – this kitty’s purrin’/
I take off my clothes, by the time I get in there she’s snorin’/
She’s passed out cold, I’m assed out so/
I go through her purse take some cash and I blow/

LOL Kats I’m sure she does! A verse about you taking a drunk chick home, and stealing her money after she passes out. I could see how your wife would be really into that …
