Signifire “The 147th Best MC You’ve Never Heard Of” Album Review
I went out of town this past weekend for Memorial Day looking to simply relax and chill with family without the constant business emails and phone calls; my mission is complete and I feel refreshed. When I returned home I had a chance to experience something else refreshing, the 147th best MC you never heard of.

I am referring to Signifire; a Massachusetts based hip-hop artist who seems to have experienced the normal ups and downs that are common with any strugglin’ artist: the labeling of his style, the creative differences and split with other group members, and the frustrations of the public not really appreciating his approach to hip-hop. I for one recognize talent, and Signifire has much; he has the potential to leave a serious mark on the game if he continues to stay genuine.

Signifire doesn’t grab me as an extremely strong lyricist but what he does do is present a confidence; he seems very comfortable in his skin, which is a key trait needed to impressing the hip-hop community. Though his album “147th Best MC You Never Heard Of” is technically an EP, he makes a conscious effort to give the listener a full album presentation by providing a skit and a couple other added bonuses.

With a mixture of great beats that have a hip-hop meets jazz meets funk feel, Signifire blends well lyrically and keeps consistent throughout the seven tracks on this presentation. Surprisingly, the best song on this album is Something About Us because the song not only flows well musically and fits perfectly into my personal playlist, but I feel Signifire delivers better on a chill track such as this.

Other noteworthy tracks include Come To Pass for its great live jazz feel and backing vocals and Re-Introducing for its feel good Afro-Latino vibes. Peace.
