Perhaps had you seen the copy of the dvd which included side-bars about cultural criticism in general, and Sut Jhally&#039;s discussion of criticism of popular culture in particular, you would have been less surprised at the &quot;one sided-ness&quot; of the documentary (almost nothing is evenly balanced--it was Hurt&#039;s choice to highlight the factors in hip-hop which appear to be most prevalent (i.e., mainstream) AND which appear to have the greatest impact on black masculinity.
