Immortal Technique on Al Jazeera English
I ran some searches after reading our review of Immortal Technique’s “The 3rd World,” and came across this great video clip. It shows an interview conducted on Al Jazeera’s English network, in which Technique talks about South America, specifically Bolivia, Barack Obama and John McCain.

YO! I’m bugging off that “Toby moments” reference to Obama and Kunta Kente – but it’s on point. It’s horrible how the media is making Obama deny and/or turn his back on his own history and background in order be accepted.

How can Canada (my country) not allow a man like this into it? He’s educated, smart, respectable looking, and they won’t let him come in because of some fighting incident he had. Come on Canada, you sneaky MF’s, let Tech into Canada.

Actually, Technique is talking about the political history of South America in general here – he only mentions Peru as his birthplace.
But the whole program as presented by Al Jazeera was focused on South America’s poorest country, Bolivia, especially in relation to U.S. interference there – and it was in this larger Bolivian context that Technique’s commentary was presented.
