Protest Planned for BET Hip-Hop Awards
In an article in The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Georgetown University Professor and author Michael Eric Dyson claims that Maryland Reverend Delman L Coates is organizing a protest to be held at the upcoming BET Hip Awards.
Coates has been making headlines in the past weeks for his “Enough is Enough” campaign which is calling for BET (Black Entertainment Television) to stop showing negative and images of black men and women.
Coates, who has lead protests outside the house of BET CEO Debra Lee, has vowed to continue picketing outside her house every Saturday until the network stop show images of black people as pimps, strippers, players, gangsters, sexual objects and other demeaning caricatures.
Coates “Enough is Enough” campaign is also calling out corporate companies who sponsor artists.
The Reverend has also asked Congress to change the law that allows cable companies to select the networks they bundle for subscribers. He believes this practice forces subscribers to buy BET programs because most bundle plans include the network.
The second BET Hip Hop Awards will take place on Saturday (October 13) at Atlanta’s Civic Center. The show will air on Wednesday (October 17) at 8 p.m.

Hey listen everyone has an opinon and that’s that . As long as it is on after hours so that small children won’t see then that should not be a problem. Adults are adults and that should not be a issue. I mean the preaches are going to say what they want to say !!!!
