Hip-Hop Can Help Save Darfur! Please Help!
Millions of Darfurians live in fear of murder, rape, and mutilation. They’re depending on us to help put an end to their suffering. But their torturers won’t stop until their funding dries up.
That’s why we’re working hard to create a global movement to Divest for Darfur. But we need your help to make it happen. We’re off to a strong start but we’re still $340,000 away from our goal of raising $400,000 by Friday, June 15th.
Divestment is a proven strategy. It was one of the key tactics that was successfully used to help end apartheid in South Africa. And Sudan, itself, has been very responsive to economic pressure in the past.
That’s why we can’t afford to wait to ramp up the pressure on companies to withdraw their support from Sudan — and, by extension, from the genocide in Darfur.
You can help ensure we have the resources to:
- Pressure more companies to divest. Divestment can have a snowball effect — once one firm does it, others follow suit. Companies like Rolls Royce and Siemens have already decided to cease operations in Sudan… help us keep the ball rolling.
- Encourage more states to divest. Thirteen states have already enacted divestment policies to withdraw the states’ pension funds from companies that help fund the genocide. Help us make it all fifty!
- Get more people involved. Ever mindful of their images, companies respond to public pressure. Save Darfur activists have already generated over 150,000 phone calls, faxes, and emails to Fidelity’s headquarters but we need even more activists to help keep the heat on Fidelity and pressure even more key companies to divest!
We have the strategy, and the know-how, to do all these things. But a campaign of this scale requires significant funding. Help us expand the global movement to Divest for Darfur — and stop the atrocities.
Four years of genocide is four years too many.
Give today to help us reach our $400,000 goal by June 15th.
Your donation will go straight to work for the innocent people of Darfur.
Thank you again for your commitment to stopping the violence.
