Hieroglyphics To Embark on “The Freshly Dipped Tour”

The Freshly Dipped TourTo ring in their 10th anniversary as an independent label and hip-hop collective, Hieroglyphics announced details for the second leg of their massive North American fashion and music expo that will span from mid-summer into fall. Twelve dates have been added to the 3-month long tour.

“The Freshly Dipped Tour” celebrates Hiero Imperium’s prolific past ten years as indie hip-hop trailblazers and looks ahead to their expansion into the fashion industry and their continuing role of bringing both classic and new West Coast hip-hop artists to the masses. (more…)

          Hip-Hop Pioneers Descend On Detroit For Stop The Violence Weekend

          Stop the ViolenceHip Hop Pioneers Kurtis Blow, The Legendary Grandmaster Jay, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, MC Lyte, Whodini, and The Sugar Hill Gang will appear in Detroit during The 1st Annual Stop The Violence Weekend May 2nd-4th.

          On Friday, superstars Kurtis Blow and Grandmaster Jay are scheduled to speak to students at three of Detroit’s middle and high schools prior to a press conference to address the recent increases in gang behavior and violence involving Detroit’s youth. The rest of the hip hop pioneers will participate in a concert at the world famous Fox Theater on Saturday night. (more…)

              The Traveling Circuits TourNew York City-based hip-hop artist Bisc1 has just announced the dates for The Traveling Circuits Tour. The tour will be in support of his upcoming album, “When Electric Night Falls” on Embedded Music. Joining him on the road are fellow artists Domer, Metermaids, Human?, DJ Halo, and Grimace.

              The tour will begin in New York City and then snake across the country to California and back. One of the highlights of the tour is Bisc1’s spot in the highly anticipated Definitive Jux showcase at SXSW, where he will share the stage with El-P and Del The Funky Homosapien. Afterwards, Bisc1 will head to Atlanta, where he will take part in the A3C Hip-Hop Festival alongside Little Brother, Guilty Simpson, and many more A-list artists. (more…)

                Minneapolis “Hip-Hop For The Homeless” Concert for Youthlink

                HeiruspecsMinneapolis, MN - The Twin Cities are a hotbed for literate, politically-conscious hip-hop, and this Saturday many of the area’s best MCs will face off at “Hip-Hop for the Homeless.” The event serves dual purposes: showcasing a diverse cast of local hip-hop talent and raising money for Youthlink, a local nonprofit organization that works to prevent teen homelessness.

                Hip-Hop for the Homeless takes place this Saturday, February 16 at the Triple Rock Social Club. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. 9 p.m. Ages 18+. (more…)

                  AC3 Hip-Hop Festival Announces First Round of Performers

                  AC3 FestivalOrganizers of the A3C Hip Hop Festival have announced the first round of artists to perform at this year’s event. This March 20-22nd, Del Tha Funkyhomosapien, The Cool Kids, Guilty Simpson, Wale, Blu & Ta’Raach are C.R.A.C., Tanya Morgan, Hangar 18, John Robinson, Binkis Recs, Nobody Famous and DJ Lord of Public Enemy will make up one third of the total lineup.

                  With thirty three performance slots available, organizers plan to section the announcements into thirds; eleven at a time. (more…)
