Domer’s “My Favorite EP” is hip-hop’s first ever open source music project. It’s all about blurring the line between listener and artist in the creative process and trying something that’s never been done before.
Domer started with lyrics for five unwritten songs, which he recorded to a metronome with no music at all. 20 very different producers from all over the world each made their own versions of the music to go with the lyrics. And now you can choose your favorite version of each song and assemble your own favorite EP.

The other list contains the top hip-hop albums from minor independent labels and unsigned hip-hop artists. The first list contains artists you’ve likely heard of, while the second list contains artists you’ve probably not heard of.
This is that second list - our favorite hip-hop albums from cats you’ve probably never heard of. The list below represents the best albums underground hip-hop had to offer in the year 2007 from what we consider minor independent record labels and unsigned artists. Brooklyn-based indie-hop innovator Domer is back with a brand new kind of musical project - one that has never been attempted before in hip-hop. Domer’s My Favorite EP is an interactive album that allows producers and fans to create their own versions of his music.
Domer has recorded vocals for five songs with no beat underneath, just lyrics rapped to a metronome and posted online for producers all over the world to run with. Now he is inviting music producers to create the backdrops for these lyrics. (more…)
Propaganda Anonymous “Todo Corazon” Album Review
Propaganda Anonymous’ “Todo Corazon” is a textbook example of what an EP is supposed to be. It’s seven tracks and just less than twenty-five minutes long. It introduces something new and innovative, both in terms of emceeing and production. And it demonstrates Prop Anon’s verbal skills by showcasing a versatile ability to impose his lyrical will on seven distinctly unique beats. (more…)
Brooklyn MC Domer has once again pushed his unique blend of hip-hop and punk rock to the screen with last night’s premiere of “You’re On To Me” at Asterisk in Bushwick. The party included impressive performances by the Metermaids, Domer and brokeMC, among others.
The video is from Domer’s upcoming album, due out Fall ‘07, and is directed by Austin Lynn (Kovarova.com). It features the entire MINDSpray family, a collection of dope NYC emcees. Peep the video below:
C.O.N.C.E.P.T. “In The Moment” Album Review
Well, it’s official. The Mindspray Crew is officially my favorite local New York City conglomeration of dope emcees. Every emcee coming out of Mindspray is unique and groundbreaking, as Domer’s “Work With Me” and brokeMC’s “Make It Better” have already earned feature spots on our website this year. And now C.O.N.C.E.P.T. has solidified their position with what is turning out to be one of my favorite indie hip-hop releases of the year thus far, “In The Moment.” (more…)
brokeMC “Make It Better” Album Review I saw brokeMC rock a show a week or so ago. The crowd was into it, the ladies were dancing, and all the heads were nodding. I could tell that it definitely made an impression on people, and I remember looking over at the merch table to see it crowded with visitors. “Those cats are gonna be selling some albums tonight,” I thought.
