Harley-Davidson Motor Company announces legendary hip hop icon, Darrel “DMC” McDaniels of the famed group, Run DMC will be part of the “Bikers in the Park” celebration at Daisy Stocking Park, Daytona Beach on March 6 and 7.

The Humane Society of the United States, the nation’s largest animal protection organization - backed by 10.5 million Americans, is holding the first “Hip Hop for Hounds” contest for the best rap song that stands up for dogs, and against dogfighting.
The contest will be judged by rap legend DMC, of Run DMC, and the winner will receive a $1,000 prize. Due to a large number of requests, contest submissions will be accepted until March 31, 2008. The winner will be announced shortly after. (more…)
The J.A.M. Awards are the first awards in the hip-hop community to recognize social responsibility. The awards will honor the late Jam Master Jay’s life and legacy and his efforts to promote social Justice, Arts and Music (”J.A.M.”) worldwide.
One honoree will be selected every year from each of the fields of social Justice, the Arts and Music, based on the impact they have made and their record of helping others. The inaugural J.A.M. Awards will be launched at a star-studded tribute concert held in honor of Jam Master Jay and hosted by his wife. (more…)
He was doing what he loved most in a neighborhood recording studio any other hip-hop star would have abandoned long ago - but Jam Master Jay always did his own thing.
And that October night in 2002, the pioneering Run DMC deejay, whose real name was Jason Mizell, was doing what he did best - mixing beats - when he was shot in the back of the head in a Queens studio full of people. Hip-hop has such a negative connotation in some circles that some people equate it with thuggery or crime — an unfair depiction that DMC of the legendary rap group Run-DMC is trying to dispel.
