    In Celebration of Public Enemy

I was just a grade-schooler when I first became a fan of Public Enemy – and that experience continues to affect me today. Now, it appears that many others share this long-standing admiration of the group. In response to being honored as a YouTube Living Legend, Chuck D makes some great points on arts, culture and politics.

After the break, see some great testimonials on behalf of Public Enemy by classic hip-hop artists and activists Black Thought, ?uestlove, Afrika Bambaataa, and Fred Hampton Jr. (more…)

Chuck DWinston Salem, NC – When Chuck D, a founding member of acclaimed hip-hop group Public Enemy, stepped onto the stage at Dillard Auditorium at Winston-Salem State University’s Anderson Center last night, he was met with a standing ovation.

He returned the applause to the more than 60 people gathered to hear from one of hip-hop’s icons. “We’re living in a country that’s not giving a lot of props to intelligence,” he said. “People are clapping their hands to drugs and celebrities.” (more…)

Public Enemy “How You Sell Soul … ???” Album Review
Very few hip-hop publications reviewed this one. Even though we all know they got early copies. And that upsets me a little homie. I feel like we owe Public Enemy more than that. Shit, without them there wouldn’t be us – at least us as we know it now. We owe it to hip-hop to keep track of what PE is doing. (more…)

                Public Enemy celebrates 20 years

Public EnemyThis past week, Public Enemy celebrated its 20th anniversary, a major milestone that doesn’t seem to be getting the attention it deserves. After all, Front man Chuck D is the ultimate hypester. Flavor Flav must rank as hip-hop’s most colorful character.

Other key members include Minister of Information Professor Griff and, of course, the ever-present martial-arts experts S1Ws (Security for 1st World). (more…)
