I just got around to listening to this mixtape over the weekend, and now I’m glad I did. Business Casual is a group composed of some of my favorite of the NYC underground, including the Metermaids, Kats, Domer and brokeMC. This mixtape is basically those emcees spitting over a bunch of indie rock remixes mixed by Domer. What do you get when you take a handful of underground rappers in New York City, mix in a couple local beat makers, and scatter them throughout a ten-track compilation album? Well, you get the “Almost Fameless Mixtape Vol. 2” – and boy is it worth the free download. Kats & Domer’s project is one of my favorite albums in a while – and I normally don’t even fuck with mixtapes! (more…)

This week’s quotable hip-hop track is Kats and Domer’s Weekend Lover, which features a guest verse from Jake Lefco and a tight beat by Andy Bangers. Weekend Lover is from the “Almost Fameless Mixtape Vol. 2,” which you can download for free here. What I really like about this song is the way the three emcees created three different interpretations of the song, which is apparent from their verses. Click below to listen to the track:
