      FREE Download: Davis Jackson “Disappear”

Never heard of this emcee before, but I liked the track when it hit my inbox. Disappear is a collaboration between Chicago-based hip-hop artists Davis Jackson, of a group called the 80′s Babies, and Thaione Davis – who caught my eye earlier this year with his videos for Quality Control and Everybody Got A Say So. Thaione Davis and Dee Jackson are currently working on a full length project featuring a handful of Chicago producers. Click below to listen to Davis Jackson’s Disappear:

        Distrakt “Factorized MC’s” Video

This is a brand new video from one of my favorite underground emcees Distrakt. Based in Denver, Distrakt consistently puts out dope tracks, and has recently complemented them with these nice animated videos. If you like this, check out his videos for Sup and Fire Escape.

FREE Download: Epsilon Project “Sleeping Giant Remix”

This is a nice little freebie that found it’s way into my inbox this weekend. Sleeping Giant is a track from Epsilon Project’s “Audacity,” and this is a remix of that track done by Preme. The track features Dopamine Rush, and the remix can be found on the “Audacity Limited Edition Package.” If you like this track, check out the group’s video for Inspiration. Big ups to the homie BeatRoot for sending this one over. “Brand New Kicks” is a FREE album from Vancouver-based hip-hop group Cloud City Classic. While I normally stay away from 90′s style throwback albums these days, this one really hit for me when I downloaded it the other day. Check it out. Skit Slam “Get Up” Video

Brand new video for a nice new track from Skit Slam. Produced by Mr. Joeker, Get Up is a track from an upcoming Skit Slam project scheduled for 2011 release.

                Prolyphic “Fake Limps” Video

This isn’t exactly a video – more like a footage compilation. But either way, I like it. Fake Limps is a former HHL featured download featuring Cubbiebear (who also produced the song) and Seez Mics of Educated Consumers – along with cuts by DJ Addikt.

FREE Download: Masai Bey “Collector’s Bey”

I came across Masai Bey a couple years ago when he dropped “The Panacea Goldmind” on NYC-based Uncommon Records – an album that made my top indie releases of ’06 list. I’ve kinda lost track of him since then, but was amped to see this freebie hit my inbox. “Collector’s Bey” is a compilation of the best of Masai Bey, including exclusive unreleased tracks, freestyles and live audio. R.I.P. Michael “Eyedea” Larsen

Wow. Just a couple months ago, I saw this dude rock a show in NYC. He jumped off stage, started dancing with the crowd, and ended up jumping up and down with his arm around me. Now I wish I would’ve introduced myself, or maybe thought of something to say … RIP.
