I’m excited about the upcoming Felt shit, mainly because of the production switch. While the group maintains emcees Slug and Murs, Felt now features Aesop Rock on the beats. As an introduction, Rhymesayers is offering Protagonists for FREE download. Click below to listen to Felt 3′s Protagonists:

New FREE mixtape by K’naan with beats by J. Period. Apparently, this is the first in a series of mixtapes by the duo with the intention of paying tribute to some musical “Messengers” – which include Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan. This EP features one Kuti, one Marley, and one Dylan remix, and will be followed by additional remixes in the future. Click below to download K’naan & J. Period’s “The Messengers” EP for FREE:
I normally don’t post these YouTube mp3 vids, but the free download of this track isn’t working for me. And shit is dope! Fresh Air is from Brother Ali’s upcoming “Us.”
I gotta say I’m mad happy for Random, one of my favorite underground emcees, for getting a spot on the upcoming “Marvel vs. Capcom 2 MixTape” alongside such heavyweights as Talib Kweli, Raekwon, Hieroglyphics, Planet Asia and the Living Legends crew. Remainder is One is Random’s track from the mixtape, and features RAHM Nation affiliates Blaze Rock and Storyville. Click below to listen to Random’s Remainder is One:

But being that Eminem doesn’t really fit HHL’s underground niche, I had no plans to talk about “Relapse” on the site. That was until a couple weeks ago when I posted Déjà Vu as quotable of the week and started reading all the negative responses toward it. And it immediately became clear that underground hip-hop fans are hating on Eminem right now – so I had to put in my two cents. (more…)
