This is a FREE track download from one of my favorite emcees of the NYC underground, Core Rhythm. Metropolis is basically a song about how living in a big city affects a person’s mental state, and features production and vocals by Amatus-Sami. If you like this, check out former HHL quotable of the week Ronin and Core’s video for 8 am Bluez – which made HHL’s best videos of ’08 list. Click below to listen to Metropolis:

This week’s hip-hop track of the week is How I Got Over – the title track from the Roots’ upcoming album. They performed it live on the Jimmy Fallon show a couple weeks back. I picked this song for track of the week simply because Black Thought is a beast and just kills it in this track. Click below to listen to How I Got Over:

This is a brand new video for Run Amok, one of my favorite tracks from the FreeIceCream.net crew, which gives all their music away for FREE download here. Run Amok features underground NYC emcees Kats, Domer and iLLspoKinN.
This week’s underground hip-hop track of the week is Ven Aqui by Random, which contains three dope verses I really relate to. In this track, Big Ran talks about a break-up, a guardian angel, and a parent, and separates each verse with an infectious chorus by Sabrina Cuie. If you like this song, click here to download it for FREE. Click below to listen to Random’s Ven Aqui:

Rots 1 is an emcee from Phoenix, and he is currently offering the “Lost In My Thoughts Again” EP for FREE download. Somebody sent me this a while back, but I just got around to checking it out this weekend. And although I’ve only listened to the EP once now, I’m feeling dude’s style. The “Lost In My Thoughts Again” EP is a nice mix of raw lyricism and interpersonal subject matter – and it is definitely worth the free download.
