New Brother Ali album dropping in September.

This week’s hip-hop quotable is Smile from Eyedea & Abilities’ new album “By The Throat.” I heard a lot of people hating on this album before I picked it up, but I think it’s crazy dope. I’m digging E&A’s new style and movement towards rock-ish hip-hop. Smile is a track about finding beauty and peace in a world of pain and agony. Click below to listen to Eyedea & Abilities’ Smile:
And be sure to follow along with the lyrics after the break. (more…)
I don’t know how I missed this shit. Or the fact that Chali 2Na finally released his long awaited “Fish Outta Water” earlier this month. But I came across the album Friday and haven’t stopped bumping it since. This video is for Lock Shit Down, one of a handful of dope tracks from the album. Lock Shit Down features a guest verse from Talib Kweli.
Distrakt is one of my favorite underground emcees. Recently, he’s been doing a lot of work with Sedgwick and Cedar. This video walks you through his newest creation, a FREE downloadable interactive study of the history of hip-hop. Dope and educational.
This is another in a long line of FREE album downloads by Strange Famous Records. B. Dolan’s “House of Bees Vol. 1″ is much more rapping and less spoken word performance than his last album, and features guest appearances from a lot of the SFR crew, including Curtis Plum, Prolyphic, Alias, Aupheus, and Sage Francis. This album was mixed by Buddy Peace, and is also available as a signed copy here. Click below to download B. Dolan’s “House of Bees Vol. 1″ for FREE:
